What a Wild N' Crazy Weekend!!

Wow- what a wild n' crazy weekend this was!!

It started out crazy- and didn't stop for 3 days. Weddings are always crazy. Things never go the way you plan. However- this one was particularly more adventurous than others!

A lot of it can be blamed on the Arizona monsoons! Severe storms that we get this time of year!

Thursday night- we had a severe monsoon. (I know because I was out rollerblading with Jasmine when it started to sprinkle.) We didn't turn around right away- because I figured it never rains much in AZ. Well that was a mistake. Within the next 10 minutes, it was pouring rain. And the winds were so strong that Jasmine's eyebrows were blown back so she looked like a mad scientist. But we made it back. (I wasn't far.)

My dad, on the other hand, was far away. He was driving up to girls' camp to pick up my sister Emily early. (Because we were all supposed to leave on a plane to Utah the next morning!) The wind, lightening, and rain was even more brutal up north. In order to pave the road through the mountains, the sides had been blasted. But with tons of rain pouring down, it was hurling down tons of rocks from the side of the mountain onto the road. My dad ran over one of these and got a flat tire. He tried unsuccessfully to put on the donut tire in the middle of this massive storm. Finally, a guy pulled over to help him, and he was able to get on his way to pick up Emily. (But he had to drive the hundred miles slower- because he was using a little donut tire- so that meant it took them a lot longer to get back home.) They were supposed to return around 9 pm, but it ended up being around midnight. But at least they were both home safe & sound.

So the next morning, we all go to the airport. Only to discover our flight to SLC had been canceled!! (Because of the storms the night before, our plane wasn't able to land. So therefore, it wasn't there to take off again the next morning!) My dad & Emily were able to be reaccomadated to a 1:30 flight connecting through Vegas. David, my mom, and I had to wait to be booked on a 4:30 pm flight through Vegas. So all of us missed Jane's bridal shower. We were supposed to pick up Luke, Annie, and Finley from the airport and all drive together. That didn't happen. We made some phone calls- and Seth was eventually the one who went to get them. As it turned out, Mom, David, and I were able to get out on the earlier flight as stand-by's. (a direct answer to prayer!) Because that way we all arrived at the same time. So we finally made it. Phew! Just happy to be there! We had missed the shower, but were happy to make it to the pre-wedding dinner. It was so fun seeing all the family again. Of course, everybody ADORED little Finley!!! (and how could you not?!)

Saturday, July 12th- was Seth & Jane's wedding- still a little crazy- but good. We were rushed to get to the Bountiful Temple. (thank goodness rental cars now come with GPS systems!) And there was a few hiccups there- one of my brothers brought an old recommend. (whoops!) But it turned out okay- because the wedding was running 20 minutes late anyway.

I really like the Bountiful temple. It's beautiful. It's up on a hill, so the views are fantastic.

Of course wedding days are exhausting. You expect them to be. Go-go-go-go-go-go!

So we thought once that was finally over, things would run smoothly. hahaha. NOPE!
We got to the airport only to discover that our return flight was delayed as well!! (Due to severe weather in AZ again!) This time- Sunday night- it was so bad, the freeway at I-10 and the 60 were closed because it was flooded in waist deep water. (the pump systems were overtaxed.)
So... we hung out at the airport some more. Luckily/Unluckily- Luke & Annie's plane was delayed too! (Because it was coming from PHX). So that gave us more Finley time!! :) But after they left- then it got boring. We made it home after midnight. But then there was a problem with our whole flight's luggage. It took them over an hour to unload it. So needless to say, we were exhausted after this trip!!! It was one adventure after another!

I'll post pictures as soon I get them uploaded. I was so mad at myself for not bringing my battery charger to Utah. So- my camera died at the beginning of the reception. :(
Oh well. I took pics with Emily & my dad's camera. Hopefully that will do!!
