While up in Utah visiting my grandma and skiing, we had planned on going to church on Sunday like usual. However, when we went to the church building we discovered there were no church meetings! All the wards in Draper were attending the Draper Temple Dedication- which was being broadcast into the church buildings. Normally you need a yellow ticket to attend, but we explained we were visiting from Arizona, and they let us attend! It was really good! Here's my parts from my favorite speakers: (paraphrased)
Dalquist: What we become is through a series of experiences that shape us. Take every opportunity to strengthen your gospel knowledge and testimony.
Clayton: Come up to the temple. Basically-Come up/Advance in the following areas 1) Personal Worthiness 2) Seek a higher level of thought/understanding 3) Learn to Serve 4) Learn to be More Grateful
Monson: Do not lay up treasures on earth, but in heaven. (Matthew 6:19) Our lives reflect our faith. We can overcome any trial if will follow the Lord, love our neighbors. Trust in the Lord with all our heart (Proverbs 3:5-6)
So that's what I learned. Being able to go to this temple dedication was a surprise to me... but I'm very glad things worked out the way they did!
